Allen F. Besch, a former Mattituck resident, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 12. He was 82.
Besch was living in Elamsville, Virginia and passed away at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart, Virginia.

He was born in Mattituck on Nov. 6, 1932 to the late Carl and Anna Benedict Besch.
Besch served in the United States Navy for four years.

He devoted husband of Joan M. Besch and together they owned and operated Besch’s Clock Shop in Riverhead,.
Besch was an accomplished jeweler with a specialty in clock and watch repair. His passion was horses.
He was the loving father of Linda Knatz and Andy Besch, both of Long Island, and like a dad to Terri Besch Mellis, his niece.
He was the caring stepdad to Karen Chouinard of Ridgeley, MD, and Michael Brusich of Charlotte, NC.
He was a grandfather to Derek and Kate. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl of Calverton.
A memorial service for Besch will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Allen Besch’s name to Safe Haven Equine Rescue and Retirement, 129 Asbill Avenue High Point, NC 27265 Attention: Gin.
