Obituary: Dr. Barbara Y. Hulse, of Baiting Hollow, Dies at 93
Visitation will take place on Monday.

Dr. Barbara Y. Hulse, of Baiting Hollow, died on Nov. 27, 2015 at her home. She was 93.
Hulse was born in New Rochelle, NY on Nov. 6, 1922 to Walter Halsey and Lola (Robinson) Young.
She grew up in New Rochelle, then attended Middlebury College in Vermont, where she received her BA degree.

She continued her education at Albany Medical College in New York, where she was awarded her Doctor of Medicine Degree.
Hulse was a family practitioner for a year at the Young homestead in Aquebogue.

She married Irving Hallock Hulse, a prominent potato and peach farmer in 1951 and moved into the old Hulse homestead in Baiting Hollow.
She was pre-deceased by her husband in 1998.
She is survived by a sister, Doris Y. Obrien of New Rochelle, a brother David Halsey Young of Sable River, Nova Scotia; three nephews and four nieces.
Hulse was an active member of Baiting Hollow Congregational Church for many years where she served as a Sunday school teacher, clerk, choir member and member of the woman’s clubs.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 30 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home on 406 East Main Street in Riverhead.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 starting at 11 a.m. in Baiting Hollow Cemetery, located behind Baiting Hollow Congregational Church on 2416 Sound Avenue in Baiting Hollow.
Interment will also be in the cemetery.
