Obituary: Helen Lessard Raynor, of Mattituck, Dies at 90

Helen Lessard Raynor, of Jamesport, died October 15, 2015 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 90.

Raynor was born on April 19, 1925 in Mattituck to Xenia (Labiak) and Theador Nawrocki.

She graduated Mattituck High School and after graduation worked at the Roy Reeve Insurance Agency alongside her best friend Elsie Jones.

Affectionately known as “GMA”, Raynor was a devoted family woman. She was loved by many for her great cooking, conversation ability, amazing memory of local history and infectious smile and laughter.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Leon Lessard in 1971 and her second husband, David (Stan) Raynor in 2005.

She is survived by her two sons David Lessard (Kelly) and Thomas Lessard (Sandy); five granddaughters, Brooke, Cassidy, Jamie, Joslyn, Kristy; three step-children, David Raynor II, Cathy McGeary, Susan Northridge and five step-grandchildren, David III, Sarah, Michael, Emily and Annie.

The family welcomed friends on Friday, October 16 at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes in Mattituck.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, October 17 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery.
