Obituary: Robert G. Rowehl, of Mattituck, Dies at 86

Robert G. Rowehl, of Mattituck, (formerly of Middle Island) on December 15. He was 86.

Rowehl was an ex-chief and former commissioner of the Middle Island Fire Department as well as a member of the Mattituck Fire Department.

He was predeceased by his wife, the late Bertha M. Rowehl (nee James).

He is survived by his children and their spouses; Jean and Bill Roberson, James and Rebecca Rowehl, John and Jane Rowehl, Susan and Carl Krieg, Marie and Serge Desjardins and Karen Rowehl and Pete Raynor.

He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes on 13805 Route 25 in Mattituck.

Firematic services will take place at 7:30 p.m. and funeral services will take place at 8 p.m.

A private interment will follow at the Plainlawn Cemetery in Hicksville.
