Driver Ejected, Airlifted After 2-Car Crash
A 77-year-old driver crossed over the double yellow lines before the crash; the other driver was ejected, airlifted, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A 77-year-old man was extracted from his vehicle and another man ejected after a crash on Main Road in Aquebogue Thursday morning, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a 911 call came in at 11:31 a.m. about a serious crash involving two vehicles, with one driver needing extraction and one driver ejected from the vehicle.
Witnesses said a red four-door 2018 Tesla, Model S was traveling west on Main Road in Aquebogue; the other vehicle, a red 2016 Dodge Ram 1500, was traveling east, police said.

The Tesla, operated by David H. Gordon, 77, of Mattituck, crossed over the double yellow lines into the eastbound lane, colliding with the Dodge, driven by Chris A. Hollborn, 53, of Aquebogue, police said.
Gordon was extricated from his vehicle with the assistance of Riverhead Fire Department, heavy rescue, and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said.

Hollborn was transported by RTVAC to a nearby landing zone and transported by Suffolk County aviation to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious head injuries, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department's detective division responded and continued the investigation with the assistance of the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, police said.
