"One Greenport Cultural Festival" Set To Unfold In Greenport
It's the second year for a joyful festival in Greenport that showcases the cultural diversity of the community through music, food and art.

GREENPORT, NY — A joyful celebration of music, dance and art is set to unfold in the Greenport once again as the second "One Greenport Cultural Festival" takes place in Mitchell Park.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a rain date of June 10., and will include music, artwork and food from around the world. The festival is sponsored by the Friends of Mitchell Park and the Village of Greenport.
Last year's debut event included a burst of colorful music, dance and art; performing were a Columbian guitar duo, a Guatemalan dance troupe, the MainStage Dance Academy, a gospel choir, music by the Greenport Elementary School chorus, and a clown who delighted children with magic, balloons and humor.

Greenport Village Trustee Doug Roberts, who has advocated for art, music and dance in Mitchell Park by local school groups and organizations since taking office, said last year that he was pleased to see the community come together to embrace the arts and the cultural diversity that comprises the fabric of Greenport Village.

"One Greenport was a great opportunity for us all to come together. We have so many talented people in Greenport and it was wonderful to see everybody sharing their talents in Mitchell Park," said Roberts, who also wanted to give special thanks to Greenport Village Mayor George Hubbard and the village board, as well as to the Friends of Mitchell Park, for sponsoring the event.
"This brings together a diverse grouping of people who all share the same likes, and it shows us that we have more in common than we ever think about," said Sister Margaret of the North Fork Spanish Apostolate.
Greenport Schools Superintendent David Gamberg, who attended last year's event, agreed. "I think it is a great way to showcase the diversity in our community and the school is a central part of Greenport. Artwork, song and dance will reflect the vibrancy of our learning community. I am looking forward to this being an annual tradition in Greenport."
