One Man Chokes Another During Argument: Cops

GREENPORT, NY — A Greenport man was arrested after he choked another man during an argument, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place on Feb. 25 at 6:06 p.m. on 3rd Street in Greenport.

James Lawrence, 41, was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breath, applying pressure, a misdemeanor, police said.

The victim said that Lawrence came to his home and had a verbal argument with him; Lawrence then placed his hands around the man's neck and applied force to his neck, police said.

The man said that Lawrence then walked away down the street; he was found by police and arrested, police said.
