Owner Injured By Thieves Stealing From North Fork Liquor Store: PD
A man and woman were arrested after trying to steal from the store; the owner was injured trying to stop the thief, police say.
CUTCHOGUE, NY — The owner was injured when a pair tried to steal from a liquor store in Cutchogue recently, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 4:55 p.m. on Halloween at Peconic Liquors, located on Route 25.
The owner, 35, contacted Southold police to report someone attempting to steal items, police said.

Patrol units responded and located Gilberto Jimenez, 53, of Cutchogue, and Christine Nietupski, 33, of Mattituck, in possession of items from the store authorities said.
Both were arrested and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and petty larceny, police said. Nietupski was additionally charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration after she refused officers' commands to be handcuffed, police said.

The owner sustained minor injuries after an altercation with Jimenez, as the owner attempted to keep Jimenez from fleeing the scene, police said.
Jimenez and Nietupski were processed and released on an appearance ticket for a future court date, police said.
