Owners, From Out Of Town, Desperate To Find Missing Dog

Blu went missing from a barn in Peconic and is lost in an area he has never seen before. "He's my life," devastated owner says.

PECONIC, NY — A dog who is a beloved family member to the humans who love him has gone missing in Peconic, and his owner is desperate to get him back safely.

Nathan Uys, who is from out of town and lives in Kentucky and Tennessee, has been in Peconic pursuing his work as a farrier. On Tuesday, he was at a barn on Indian Neck Ln. in Peconic when his beloved pooch went missing.

Blu is a three-year old gray and white male pit bull that Uys has had since he was a small puppy, just six weeks old.

"He never leaves my side," Uys said. He let his four-legged friend out of the truck, got him water, and "he hung out for about 15 minutes in the sun," he said. Then, when Uys called Blu, there was no response. "He always comes when I call him," he said.

Although Blu likes to swim and there was a pond nearby, there were no paw prints, he said. "He never wanders off and we are afraid he was stolen for fighting. I think he's been abducted."

Unsure of what to do or where to turn, Uys is begging the community for help. "This morning we found his tag at the front entrance of the farm and it is very apparent that he has been stolen. We are absolutely terrified and we will do anything to get him back," he said in a Facebook post.

Blu, he added, "is the friendliest dog you'll ever find. Everyone loves him. There's not one bad thing about that dog. If you call him, he'll come straight to you."

If you see Blu, call or text (615) 419-3809 or (859) 963-6187. "We are desperate to find him," Uys said.
