Oysterponds School Passes By Wide Margin

Residents also voted to renovate two bathrooms.

ORIENT, NY — Voters passed the Oysterponds Union Free School District's 2019 to 2020 $5,809,568 budget by a wide margin Tuesday.

When the votes were tallied, the budget passed 108 to 14.

The budget reflects a budget-to-budget increase of 0.26% and carries a tax levy increase of 0.98 percent.

Residents also voted to renovate two bathrooms at a cost not to exceed $200,000, with 112 "yes" votes and 10 "no."

Voters elected three members to the Board of Education including incumbent Dorothy-Dean Thomas, with 97 votes, Miriam Foster, with 101, and Thomas Stevenson, with 98.
