SOUTHOLD, NY — Southold Town residents will be hitting the polls soon to elect local representatives.

The race is on leading up to Election Day, which, this year, falls on Tuesday, November 7.

Patch asked those running for office to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles in the days leading up to the election.

Incumbent Nick Krupski, a Democrat, is running for Southold Town trustee, as is incumbent Glenn Goldsmith, a Republican. There are two open seats on the board.

Brookhaven Nation Lab water treatment, 4+ years. Krupski Farms since childhood —and town trustee for 8 years.

My wife Rachael, two daughters and a son to be born any day now. All being raised on the family farm.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

My father Al Krupski is currently a Suffolk County legislator running for Southold Town supervisor.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

Southold town trustee, elected originally 8 years ago.

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

Passion for Southold Town and more specifically the creeks, bays, and wetlands.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Public access and use. And continue to be a steward, balancing property rights with environmental preservation.

What needs to be done to address water quality issues on LI?

Preserve, protect and buffer the human impacts on the native habitat so that it remains usable for future generations.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Exploring ways to prepare for intensifying storms and sea level rise.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

8 successful years as a Southold Town trustee, working in a bipartisan effort to provide Southold residents with fair and uniform decision-making and assessment.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

A trustee has no friends — meaning everyone gets treated the same.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

My childhood experiences in Cutchogue, growing up on the farm and utilizing the wetlands daily, propelled me on a career in science and educating myself about the environment.
