Peconic Landing Hosts Free Concert, Fireworks Show On Labor Day Weekend

GREENPORT, NY — Peconic Landing is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary in a big way — with a dazzling end of summer fireworks show.

The Greenport retirement community will host its annual end of summer celebration and fireworks show on Labor Day weekend, and the event is free for all.

The annual event began five years ago and attracts more than 500 guests each year, said Peconic Landing representatives.

“There is much to celebrate as we reflect on 15 years of community growth and innovation. For those of us that live or work at Peconic Landing, this community has come to mean so much. It brings us purpose, friendship and even laughter at times. We are all very fortunate to be a part of the Peconic Landing family,” said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing.

To start, on Sunday, September 3 at 7 p.m., Peconic Landing will feature a live performance by the 40-member Atlantic Wind Symphony, comprised of musicians from across Long Island.

The performance will take place on the patio at Brecknock Hall and feature popular songs by George Gershwin and John Philip Sousa as well as well-known Broadway hits. It will also include a salute to veterans and current service members.

This year, police and volunteer fire officials will also be recognized.

The performance is sponsored by the Brecknock Hall Foundation, which has a mission of maintaining the beautification and preservation of the historic mansion.

Fireworks will take off about 8:15 p.m. launched over Peconic Landing’s community pond. Guests are asked to bring a blanket and chairs to make the most of the event. The 20-minute fireworks show is sponsored by Peconic Landing.

A rain date is scheduled for Monday, September 4 at 7 p.m. Peconic Landing is located at 1500 Brecknock Road in Greenport.
