The fun continues all day Sunday in Greenport. Check out the schedule and huge gallery of photos from Saturday's festivities here.
GREENPORT, NY — Scores of pirates and mermaids frolicked under a brilliant September sky Saturday as the 29th Annual East End Maritime Festival kicked off in Greenport.
Presented by the East End Seaport Museum And Marine Foundation, the event included a parade Saturday morning through downtown Greenport, followed by grand displays of classic wooden boats, kayak races, demonstrations of high tech water sports, wood carving and model ship building, music, delicious food, high end artisanal vendors, children's activities, fresh oysters, craft beers and local wines.
Highlights of the day also included a Merry Merfolk Parade and contest, as well as the annual traditional blessing of the waters by Greenport's Greek Orthodox Church.

The evening brought music and dancing in Mitchell Park and screenings of original movies. On Sunday there are more family friendly activities throughout the village, and old fashioned games in Mitchell Park.
Here's a full schedule of Sunday's events, so you won't miss a minute of the fun:
