Police: Two Men Shot in Southold
Police took two occupants in a nearby vehicle into custody.

Two men were shot and two others were taken into police custody early Tuesday morning, according to Southold Town Police.
Police responded to a 911 call with a report of two male subjects that were the victims of an assault at South Harbor Road at 12:23 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found both men with gunshot wounds and one also had a severe laceration, police said.

According to Fire Chief Peggy Killian, after the area was cleared, Southold Fire Department rescue volunteers were called to the scene, The Suffolk Times reports.
“He was bleeding out,” she told The Suffolk Times of one of the men. “He was hurt.”

Both men were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment. Their conditions were unknown Tuesday morning.
Responding officers located a vehicle in the vicinity of incident with two occupants, who were taken into custody ”as part of this investigation,” police said. Police did not release the names of the men who were shot or the people taken into custody.
