Police Crackdown on Limos, Buses in Southold Following Fatal Limo Crash
Police conducted a Federal DOT check in Southold this past weekend.

Local police cracked down on limos and buses following the fatal limo crash on Route 48 in July during a Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) check in the Town of Southold this past weekend.
The Southold Town Police Department worked with Suffolk County Police Motor Carrier Safety Section and the Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Division Taxi and Limousine Commission to conduct the check on Saturday.
Officers escorted eight buses and nine limousines to the checkpoint where 34 violations were cited, according to police.

In addition, Suffolk County Police MCSS issued six tickets and the Sufflk County TLC issued three tickets, according to police.
One bus was cited for making an illegal turn at Route 48 and Depot Lane by Southold Police, according to police.

As a result of the safety checks two buses and one limousine were placed out of service, according to police.
