Police: Cutchogue Man Arrested For Using Fake Name to Avoid Arrest

The man was trying to avoid getting arrested for driving with a suspended license, police say.

A Cutchogue man was arrested for using a fake name to avoid getting arrested in Hampton Bays on Friday evening, according to Southampton Town Police.

Darwin A De Paz Javier, 23, was seen making an improper turn before he was stopped on Flanders Road at about 5:38 p.m. and found to driving with a suspended license, police said.

During the investigation, Javier gave police a false name to avoid the arrest for a suspended license, police said.

He was transported to the Southampton Town Police Headquarters for arrest processing and charged with improper turn, operating with an expired inspection, false personation, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating with a suspended registration, according to police.

He was released on an appearance ticket for a later court appearance in the Southampton Town Justice Court.
