Police: Drunk Greenport Man Arrested For Disorderly Conduct, Assaulting Officer
The man was found sleeping on the side of the road with three young children running in the street, police say.

A drunk Greenport man was arrested after assaulting a police officer who was trying to arrest him in Greenport on Friday night, according to Southold Town Police.
An officer responded to South Street on a report of a man sleeping on the side of the road in a yard, police said.
The officer woke the man up and found him to be highly intoxicated, police said. There were three young children with the man at the time and the children were running in the street, according to police.

The man, identified as Roody Harris, 32, became belligerent with the officer and was cursing loudly causing a disturbance, police said.
The officer attempted to arrest Harris for disorderly conduct at which time Harris began to physically assault the officer, causing an injury to the officer’s arm, according to police.

Harris was arrested for second degree assault, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child, and disorderly conduct, according to police.
He was transported to Southold Police Department headquarters, processed and held for arraignment.
