Police: Drunk Southold Man Hits Parked Car in Front of Pizzeria, Flees Scene

A Southold man was drunk when he crashed into a parked car in front of a pizzeria and then fled the scene on Sunday night, according to Southold Town Police.

David Hardy, 56, was driving a van on Route 25 in Southold when he sideswiped a parked car in front of Michelangelo’s Pizzeria on Main Road, police said.

The complainant followed Hardy to Timothy Coffey Landscaping where he waited for police to arrive, police said.

Upon police arrival, the van Hardy was driving was empty, according to police.

A K-9- unit led police into a garage on the property where Hardy was found upstairs, police said.

Hardy failed standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI and leaving the scene with property damage, police said.
