Police: Elderly Woman Hospitalized After Crashing Car Into Peconic Landing Building
The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

An elderly Shelter Island woman was hospitalized after she crashed into a wall of the Peconic Landing building in Greenport on Wednesday afternoon, according to Southold Town Police.
The 87-year-old driver was pulling into a parking space when her car accelerated, left the roadway, and collided with a building wall at Peconic Landing on 1500 Brecknock Road at about 1:30 p.m., police said.
The driver was uncertain as to why the accident occurred, telling police that the car suddenly accelerated, according to police.

She was taken by Greenport Fire Department Rescue to Eastern Long Island Hospital, according to police.
The building received damage to the wall and windows, but nobody was injured in the building, police said.
