Police: Greenport Man on Drugs Flees Scene of Mattituck Crash
The man was found a short distance away slumped over the wheel of his car, police say.

A Greenport man was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs after leaving the scene of an accident in Mattituck on Wednesday morning, according to Southold Town Police.
Joshua Haggerty, 33, was involved in an accident on Breakwater Road shortly after 8 a.m. and then left the scene, police said.
He was found a short distance away slumped over the wheel of his car, police said.

Haggerty was found to be impaired and found to be in possession of hypodermic needles as well as a substance that field tested positive for heroin, according to police.
He is charged driving while impaired by drugs and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to Southold Town Police Department where he was processed and held.
