Police: Mattituck High School Student Struck By Car While Skateboarding

The student was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital Friday morning.

A 16-year-old Mattituck High School student was injured after he was hit by a car while skateboarding on Wickham Avenue and Pike Street Friday morning, according to Southold Town Police.

Megan Kruszeski, 34, of Greenport was driving south on Wickham Avenue when her vehicle struck Zachary Bokina, who was crossing the street on a skateboard, according to police.

Bokina entered the crosswalk against the direction of the crossing guard and failed to yield to the vehicle, police said.

According to SoutholdLocal, Bokina was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and Police Chief Martin Flatley told SoutholdLocal he believed the boy might have sustained a fractured leg,. No other details were immediately available.
