Police ID Elderly Man Who Drowned In North Fork Pool
Tragedy struck in Mattituck when family members found an elderly man unresponsive in his swimming pool, police say.
MATTITUCK, NY — Police have identified the elderly man who drowned in a Mattituck pool Sunday.
According to Southold Town Police, Joseph Sieczka, 79, was found unresponsive by family members in his swimming pool on New Suffolk Avenue at 6:39 p.m.
Family members initiated CPR, which a responding police officer and Mattituck Fire Department members continued until he was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
