Police: Man Charged With DWI, Drug Possession in Mattituck
The man was found to have cocaine after he was caught driving drunk, police say.

A Riverhead man was arrested for DWI and drug possession in Mattituck on Sunday morning, according to Southold Town Police.
Matthew R. Roberts, 25, was seen failing to maintain his lane of travel, failing to stop for a stop sign, failing to signal a turn and backing up on a public roadway unsafely on Love Lane shortly before 3:30 a.m., police said.
When the officer had Roberts exit his car, he noticed Roberts had a plastic baggie containing cocaine, police said.

The officer then found that Roberts had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, blood-shot glassy eyes and was unsteady on his feet, according to police.
He failed the standardized field sobriety tests administered by the officer, according to police.

Roberts was placed under arrested and another baggie of cocaine was found in his sock, according to police.
He was charged with DWI and criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
He was transported to headquarters and held for morning arraignment.
