Police: Man Crashes Into Telephone Pole in Greenport, Briefly Leaves Scene
The man eventually returned to the scene of the accident and admitted to his involvement, police say.

A Greenport man briefly left the scene of an accident after crashing into a pole in Greenport on Saturday morning, according to Southold Town Police.
Saul Solis, 31, crashed into a telephone pole after his car ran off the roadway on Webb Street at about 12:15 a.m., police said.
The telephone pole, along with it’s wires, fell across the roadway, police said.

Solis panicked and fled the scene but eventually returned to the scene and admitted his involvement in the incident, according to police.
He was issued summonses and was released from the scene, police said.

Greenport Village Utilities was notified and responded to begin repairing the damaged pole and wires.
