Police: Man Trespasses Into Greenport Home, Found Rummaging Through Bedroom

This is the man's sixth arrest since 2011.

A Greenport man was arrested for trespassing into a Greenport home after he was found by a resident of the home rummaging through a bedroom on Wednesday morning, according to Southold Town Police.

Jason Mealy, 38, entered a Center Street home without permission at about 11:30 a.m., police said.

He was charged with criminal trespass and criminal possession of stolen property, according to police.

He transported to headquarters for processing and held for arraignment.

Mealy was also charge with criminal possession of stolen property from a previous incident, police said.

In 2013, he was arrested twice in a week for trespassing at a Second Street home and possession of cocaine and two crack pipes, according to a report in The Suffolk Times.

Since 2011, he was also arrested for gun possession, stealing a car and stealing a donation jar from a local 7-Eleven, according to the report.
