Police Officer, North Fork Local, Makes Big Impression on Little Boy
The family wants a Facebook post to go viral about how his kindness symbolizes unity and shows kids police are not to be feared.
A police officer originally from the North Fork is at the center of a post that's going viral on Facebook, a post that shines a light on his act of kindness and sends a message of peace and unity.
It all started when Wanetta Anderson of Virginia Beach posted on Facebook about former Southold Town Police Officer Dan Blados and the time he took to make her grandson feel special in a touching act that transcends racial divide in some parts of the country and shows that love can, indeed, win over hate.
Anderson said her grandson Jaydon Robinson, 6, asked if he could go give the Virginia Beach police officer, Blados, originally from Southold, a hug.

Blados and Virginia Beach forensic specialist Julissa Snell, "gave my grandson an experience he will be sure to remember," she said.
Jaydon's mom Leandra Williams, Anderson's daughter, was also touched by what transpired.

"Not only did he become a pretend Virginia Beach police officer with badges that he proudly stuck on his T-shirt, he sat in the driver's seat and sounded the alarms, saw the whole interior, sat in the back of the car behind bars and looked through the barred window for the first — and last time — in his lifetime," she said.
Blados and Snell patiently answered his questions and "fed into his excitement," Anderson said.
"With all that's going on in the world, Virginia Beach needs to know there are good police out there who love their jobs and community who are noteworthy of praise such as Officer Blados and FS Snell. It was a pleasure to meet and chat and thank you for showing him not all law enforcement are people to fear," she said.
