Police: Riverhead Man Arrested on DWI Charge, Passenger Arrested For Drug Possession
The two men were arrested on Tuesday night in Southold.

A Riverhead man was arrested on a DWI charge and his passenger was also arrested when he was found in possession of marijuana on Tuesday night, according to Southold Town Police.
Police received a call from an anonymous driver reporting a vehicle driving erratically.

Jose Avelar, 48, was stopped on 45300 Route 25 and found to be driving the vehicle, according to police.
Avelar was found to be intoxicated and was arrested, police said.

They also found that the passenger in the vehicle, Elmer Quezada, 19, also of Riverhead, was in possession of marijuana, police said.
He was also placed under arrest and then later charged with false personation for giving the wrong name to a law enforcement official, according to police.
Both men were held to await arraignment.
