Police: Southold Drunk Driver Hospitalized Due to 'High Level of Intoxication'

A person called police reporting the man was "driving all over the roadway," police say.

A Southold man was hospitalized due to his ”high level of intoxication” after he was found to be driving drunk in Southold on Sunday night, according to Southold Town Police.

An anonymous motorist called in to report a person driving all over the roadway, police said.

The officer then saw the car failing to signal a turn on Hummel Avenue at about 8:40 p.m., according to police.

He stopped the driver, identified as Christopher Syrewicz, 62, who was found to be drunk, according to police.

He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, failure to signal turn and open alcoholic beverage In vehicle, according to police.

Syrewicz was also transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital by the Southold Fire Department for evaluation due to his ”high level of intoxication,” police said.

He was admitted to the hospital and given an appearance ticket for a later court date, police said.
