Police: Two Clerks Arrested For Selling Alcohol to Minor

Two Southold women were arrested and the North Fork businesses they work at cited after they sold alcohol to an undercover State Police operative on Tuesday, police said.

The New York State Police Barracks in Riverside conducted the underage drinker enforcement operation in the Town of Southold.

Elizabeth P. Weiss, 52, a clerk at Peconic Liquors, located at 31435 Main Road in Cutchogue and Sarah E. Nappa, 34, a clerk at Wine Maker Studios, located at 2885 Peconic Lane in Peconic, were arrested and charged with second degree unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage.

Weiss and Nappa were issued appearance tickets returnable to court at a later date.

The following businesses were also checked and did not sell alcohol to the undercover operative, police say:

• 7-Eleven– 9945 Main Road, Mattituck
• J. Shields Fine Wines & Spirits–13325 Main Road, Mattituck
• At Your Service Beverage & Supplies– 13175 Main Road, Mattituck
• Valero Food Mart– 28975 Main Road, Cutchogue
• 7-Eleven– 56480 Main Road, Southold
