Popular Medium Brings Tears Of Joy To Crowd Looking For Signs From Lost Loved Ones

"Our daughter Kaitlyn was taken from us too soon. MaryAnn the Medium put me at ease; I am in a better place because of her." — Darla Doorhy.

NORTH FORK, NY — A fundraiser last week for Kait's Angels that featured a popular medium brought tears of joy and healing to many who received life-changing messages from those they'd loved and lost.

"The evening with MaryAnn the Medium was a huge success," said Darla Doorhy.

The event was organized as a fundraiser for Kait's Angels, an organization that gives back to others in memory of Darla's daughter, Kaitlyn Doorhy, who died while away at college in 2014 in a tragedy that broke countless hearts.

And it was such as success that MaryAnn the Medium told her she'll be doing it again next year, Doorhy said.

According to Doorhy, more 135 people attended the MaryAnn the Medium event, aiming to "experience her connection with the other side. At one point during the readings you could hear a pin drop in the room."

MaryAnn DiMarco, the medium, even "paid it forward," donating all ticket sales to Kait's Angels. "This was a great Angel Act of generosity and kindness. Thank you so much, MaryAnn," Doorhy said.

The medium left a tremendous impression on many in the room, Doorhy said

"MaryAnn made people laugh and cry. She simply left some speechless after she read them. Many spirits came to her as she glided through the room," she said.

Although she did not have a reading herself at last week's event, the medium helped her grieving mother's heart to find some measure of peace soon after losing her daughter, Doorhy said.

"I had the opportunity to experience a private reading a year ago with MaryAnn the Medium . . . after our daughter Kailtyn was taken from us, way too soon. MaryAnn put me at ease and I am in a better place today because of her reading," she said.

While she was nervous at first, her friend Mary Ellen Gamberg said she'd go along for support, Doorhy said.

"All of a sudden, everything just flowed," with the medium describing a pink golf ball, rather than the usual white, she'd found near her home. Kaitlyn's signature color was bright pink.

"She told me that Kaitlyn was very angry that her life was taken at 20. But she said, 'Tell my mom I'm doing such beautiful things from the other side. Tell her I'm doing more good here than I can on earth,'" Doorhy said. "When she said that, I just lost it."

Next, Doorhy said, Kaitlyn asked the medium about two Christmas presents under the tree — Doorhy had given her other daughter, Carly, a quilt made of Kaitlyn's T-shirts and a pair of angel wing earrings, both signed, "Love your sister from heaven."

Finally, the medium, who had been dressed comfortably in her house, said Kaitlyn, ever the fashionista, came through loud and clear. "My daughter told her, 'You'd better step it up a notch. My mother is coming.' When I got there, I was staring at her shoes, and I told her Kaitlyn would love those shoes. The medium said she was so glad, because Kaitlyn had told her to dress up because her mother was coming."

For Doorhy, MaryAnn the Medium was a light in the darkness. "She put me in a different place," Doorhy said.

Doorhy, who also attends counseling sessions, said both help her to gain strength. Of her session with the medium, she said, "It was like a flash of light, coming over my body. It made me strong. She gave me such positive, comforting signs."

Before seeing the medium, grief and exhaustion had left her depleted of energy, Doorhy said. "MaryAnn relit the end of the fuse, and it just burst. I became strong."

Having the support of her friends, as well as her husband and daughter, the community, and Kait's Angels, have also all helped, Doorhy said.

"The counselor iced the cake and MaryAnn the Medium put the cherry on top," she said.

Doorhy also wished to thank photographer Stacy Wickham, who captured the event, which was held at The Vineyards in Aquebogue.

The Doorhy family also wished to thank Russ Moran, general manager, Eleni Michailidis, banquet manager, and the entire staff.

In addition, Doorhy thanked the Kait's Angels team, including Dorian Warkentien, Molly Waitz, Laurie Italia, Lynn Krauza, Tim Bialeski, William Araneo and her husband Joe Doorhy, "for all of your help for making the evening eventful. Kaitlyn would be proud of us all."
