Porters Head To State Championships; Spectator Bus Available
Here's how you can ride along and cheer the Porters on to victory!

GREENPORT, NY —If you want to cheer on the Porters boys basketball team as they head to Binghamton for the New York State tournament, here's a chance to do so without the long drive.
A spectator bus has been secured for Friday's game, leaving Greenport High School on Friday at 9 a.m. and returning to Greenport around 10 p.m.
Those who wish to ride the bus, which costs $75 and includes a ticket to the game, should contact Joan Heaney Dinizio on Facebook or at the high school by Wednesday.

Also, Joan Dinizio is organizing a huge sendoff for the boys Thursday morning.
"The plan is that they will be leaving Greenport at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning and taking a trip through the village, down Front and up Main," she said. "We'd like to see those two street lined with people wishing them well as they head to Binghamton."

Porter pride was in full swing and Greenport was decked out in purple and gold Saturday as the Greenport High School boys varsity basketball team soared to the next level, taking home the New York State SE regional championship, securing them a spot in the Class C final semifinals, in the final four.
The team won 78 to 63 against Alexander Hamilton at Pace University in Pleasantville, during an exciting game that decided their next step in a journey that's been one of glory so far. Next, reaching for the next level of glory, they'll represent the Class C SE Region in the New York State tournament in Binghamton.
Greenport residents gathered at Moores Lane Saturday morning to give their boys a heartfelt sendoff, with horns honking and cheers of excitement and support filling the air.
And in the days leading up to the game, Porter pride was overflowing in Greenport, as residents displayed banners and purple and gold balloons, painted their nails purple and gold, and wore the colors reflecting their deep love for the hometown team that continues to make the village proud.
The team is making amazing strides; the entire starting lineup has received All-League honors this year. All League stars include Greenport guard Ahkee Anderson, Jordan Fonseca, Tyrus Smiley, Jaxan Swann and Jude Swann. All Conference was awarded to Ahkee Anderson, Jaxan Swann and Jude Swann. All County, to Ahkee Anderson, who also earned League VIII MVP. League VIII Rookie of the Year went to Tyrus Smiley; League VIII All Academic, to Matt Tuthill; and League VIII Coach of the Year, to Ev Corwin.
