Propane Tank Fire Melts Siding On North Fork Home
The Mattituck Fire Department extinguished the flames.

MATTITUCK, NY — The Mattituck Fire Department extinguished a propane tank fire recently, officials said.
The fire broke out around 6 p.m. Saturday on Westphalia Road, the Mattituck Fire Department said. When firefighters arrived, a fence was ablaze, along with some debris on the side of the house, which had melted a good portion of the vinyl siding.
Firefighters stretched a hand line and knocked down the fire — and part of the crew did an interior check of the house to confirm that the flames had not spread into the house, officials said.
