'Rash Of Larcenies' On North Fork With Items Stolen From Vehicles: PD

NORTH FORK, NY — Southold Town Police are investigating a "rash of larcenies", with thefts from unlocked vehicles in residential driveways townwide —as well as two stolen vehicles, officials said.

According to Southold Town Police, just in the past week, things have been stolen from more than 12 vehicles parked in front of homes.

In all of the cases, the vehicles were unlocked, and owners left valuables in the vehicles including cash, credit cards, and electronics, police said. Both stolen vehicles were unlocked with the keys for the ignition left inside, police said.

"We are urging all residents to lock their vehicles, remove any valuables overnight and keep your ignition keys/fobs secured in your house," police said.
