Registered Sex Offender Failed To Tell Officials He Moved: Cops
The man, who moved from Fishers Island to Connecticut, is facing a felony charge due to a prior conviction, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A registered sex offender was arrested after he failed to notify authorities that he moved, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, Brian Tillis, 49, surrendered himself to authorities at Southold Town Police headquarters on Thursday at 10:10 a.m. He was charged with one count of violating section 168F of the New York State corrections law, or Megan's Law; as a registered sex offender, Tillis is obligated to notify law enforcement within 10 days of changing his address, police said.
Tillis previously resided on Fishers Island but moved to Groton, CT earlier this year and failed to notify police within the required 10 days, police said. Tillis had a previous conviction under that section of law in 2008, which raised the level of his current charge to a felony, police said.
