Rollover Crash Reported On Sound Avenue During Sunday Night's Snow: FD

The driver was able to self-extricate from the vehicle, officials say.

NORTH FORK, NY — A rollover crash was reported during Sunday night's snowy conditions on Sound Avenue, the Mattituck Fire Department said.

According to the MFD, the crash took place at around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Harbes Farm on Sound Avenue in Mattituck.

First arriving fire units found a single car rolled over on its roof; the single passenger was able to self-extricate, officials said.

Fire police units and Riverhead police shut down traffic in both directions while fire and EMS crews worked, officials said.

Heavy rescue and an ambulance responded; crews secured the vehicle and checked for any fluids leaking, the MFD said. A small tree that was blocking the road was also removed, officials said.

The Mattituck Fire Department's rescue squad treated and transported the driver, who had minor injuries, officials said.

The Jamesport Fire Department was notified and responded, as well, since the crash was just within their district, the MFD said.
