Three People Injured in Aquebogue Crash
One woman had to be extricated from the backseat of the car, police say.

Three people were injured after a car accident in Aquebogue on Tuesday night, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Sound Avenue just east of West Lane in Aquebogue at 10:11 p.m., police said.
Upon arrival, patrol units found two cars disabled in the roadway, both with heavy front end damage, police said.

A 2000 Nissan driven by a Andrzej Faron, 18 of Riverhead, had been traveling eastbound on Sound Avenue and collided with a 2004 Toyota driven by a Leonard Turano, 83, which had been traveling westbound, police said.
Faron was treated at the scene by members of the Riverhead Ambulance Corps and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

Turano was also treated at the scene by Riverhead Ambulance and transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center via ambulance with serious injuries, police said.
Turano’s wife, Marie Turano, 75, who was seated in the backseat of his car had to be extricated from the car by members of the Riverhead Fire Department, police said.
She was subsequently airlifted by Suffolk County Police Aviation Section to Stony Brook University Medical Center with multiple fractures to her lower extremities, according to police.
An investigation conducted at the scene concluded that Turano’s car drifted into the eastbound lane into the path of Faron’s car, causing the collision, according to police.
