Earth Day was started in more 1970 by GAYLORD NELSON, a Wisconsin Senator, PLUS grad student DENIS HAYES. GAYLORD NELSON noticed people protesting the Vietnam War, but not putting any pressure on government about the damage being done to the planet via contaminants like oil spills, pesticides, and deadly smog. DENIS HAYES pursued internationalizing Earth Day -{&}- started the Earth Day Network, among other foundations. April 22 was chosen between spring break -{&}- final exams ~ attracting more college students who were known for being politically-active during that 1970s era of protest.
In 1970 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was approved by President Nixon. In 2009 the United Nations titled Earth Day as "International Mother Earth Day." In 2013, poet from India, ABHAY KUMAR's Earth Day Anthem has been translated into over 150 languages and has since been recorded in all official United Nations' languages. ABHAY KUMAR's Earth Day Anthem was played to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day at the United Nations.

Here are some everyday Earth Day reminders: RECYCLE... IGNORE/STAY AWAY FROM PLASTICS ~ TRY A VEGGIE BURGER ~ DEPOSIT FOOD SCRAPS {FRUITS -{&}- VEGGIE SCRAPS} in a compost bin and turn your waste into nutrient-rich soil. Then plant some herbs and veggies and watch your garden flourish! ~ Attempt not to drive so often to help cut-down on gas emissions. INSTEAD ~ Walk, bike, take a bus or train -OR- carpool w/ someone. ~ HOLD YOUR WATER: Conserve use of water {i.e.: take a short shower instead of a bath; turn-off the tap while brushing your teeth; only run the dishwasher -{&}- washing machine when full}.
Us WEEKLY Issue 17 dated April 17, 2023 included “DOWN-TO-EARTH” beginning on page 34 where ‘fan-favorite’ JASON MOMOA shared “tips with Us on how to make a difference”… Aquaman’s Jason MOMOA grew-up in Hawaii. He told Us that “he was named the Advocate for Life Below Water for {the United Nations Environment Programme} UNEP {June 2022}. The group {fights} to pass international restrictions on overfishing and polluting to protect our oceans.” JASON MOMOA shared that “people should replace plastic water bottles with aluminum options {as it is} an easy step towards a better world.”
