GREENPORT, NY — A beloved, somber and meaningful tradition unfolded Monday morning under gray skies in Greenport, as the annual Scout Memorial Day parade and service paid heartfelt tribute to heroes who've made the greatest sacrifice.
The parade, including Scouts, Honor Guard, and elected officials, headed down Front Street and to the railroad dock for a service, where flowers were tossed into the water in remembrance, instilling even in the youngest children the importance of paying tribute to the true meaning of Memorial Day.
