River Otter Struck By Vehicle In Greenport: DEC
Otters are elusive on Long Island, the DEC says.

GREENPORT, NY — A river otter was found dead in Greenport recently, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation said.
On March 20, Environmental Conservation Officer Zullo responded to a report of a river otter dead on the side of the road, the DEC said. Zullo said the otter likely died after being hit by a vehicle, the DEC added.
The ECO transported the animal to DEC biologists who will examine the otter to determine its age, breeding capability, diseases, and cause of death.
