'Seized': Mattituck Michalengelo's Shut Down Due to Alleged Non-Payment of Taxes

The eatery was seized on Wednesday for non-payment of New York State taxes, a notice on the pizzeria said.

MATTITUCK, NY — A steady stream of customers walked up to Michelangelo of Mattituck Wednesday — but it wasn't to buy a slice or a pie.

Curious residents were stopping to take photos and express their surprise that the restaurant had been seized by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for alleged non-payment of taxes.

A bright orange sign on the window stated that the restaurant had been seized. A letter was also found hanging on the door stating that a warrant was issued by the Commissioner of Taxation and Finance of the State of New York against Michela Corp., located at 10095 Main Road in Mattituck.
