'Shake Drops' Bring Smiles To Health Care Heroes
Mattituck's Carly Doorhy is paying it forward with "shake drops" for front line heroes at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital.
MATTITUCK, NY — A young Mattituck woman is doing her part to help the front line heroes waging the new coronavirus battle by paying it forward with shakes.
Carly Doorhy is the founder and owner of Level Up Nutrition, a satellite club using Herbalife products that serves meal replacement shakes and "energizing" teas, she said.
"While I am super excited to get my nutrition club off the ground for my community, I am paying it forward by supplying meal replacement shakes to our health heroes in our local hospitals as a message that we acknowledge them, support them and thank them for everything they have sacrificed during these hard times," Doorhy said.

Doorhy has been brightening days with the shakes at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport.
Doorhy, who kicked off the business in January, said she had worked at a nutrition club near her college, Sacred Heart University, owned by her best friend — until the pandemic hit and Doorhy returned home to Mattituck.

Despite the challenges posted by coronavirus, Doorhy said she is excited to bring her club to Long Island and proud to be a part of the "shake drops" at ELIH, a pay it forward initiative.
From the time she posted about the shake drops on Facebook, she raised $6oo, enough for three visits to ELIH.
"I wanted to feel like I have a purpose, especially during this pandemic. I wanted to help people who are risking their lives every day," she said.
The shakes come in flavors including vanilla sugar cookie, brownie batter and strawberry banana, she said.
Her father Joe Doorhy joked: "She's got me working my tail off!" But, in all seriousness, he added: "I'm really proud of her. She got a raw deal because of coronavirus; she won't be able to do the walk at what should have been her college graduation. But this is keeping her busy."
As for Doorhy, she's excited to be continuing her education and pursuing her Masters degree in speech-language pathology at Old Dominion University in Virginia in the fall.
And for now, she's thrilled with her mission during the heart of the coronavirus crisis: "I just feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing," she said.
To pay it forward, Doorhy is accepting Venmo contributions to @carlydoorhy. Each shake costs $8, but whatever is contributed is greatly appreciated, she said.
