Shelter Island Man Charged With DWI After Crash: Police

He struck a parked trailer, police say.

SHELTER ISLAND, NY — A Shelter Island man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash Wednesday, police said.

According to Shelter Island police, Brian Springer, 48, was arrested at 5:38 p.m. after the single-vehicle crash, during which he struck a parked trailer on Shelter Island.

He was transported to the Shelter Island Police Department for processing, held overnight, and later released on a desk appearance ticket and directed to appear in court on a later date, police said.
