Shelter Seeking Help to Give Holly, Only 5 Years Old, Chance at Life

A GoFundMe has been created to help Holly, a sweet shelter dog, to get the surgery she needs.

PECONIC, NY — Once again, the North Fork Animal Welfare League has turned to social media to work its magic and find loving supporters for Holly, a shelter dog who needs a helping hand so she can live a full life and find her forever home.

"Poor Holly came to the shelter a little over a year ago," said Gabrielle Stroup of the NFAWL. "She had terrible skin infections and lumps and bumps."

Initially, the NFAWL was able to have Holly's skin treated, and one mass removed in December.

"She has been doing great and was ready for adoption. Until earlier this week, when we noticed a large lump," Stroup said.

Holly has a mammary tumor that needs to be removed, she said.

To that end, a GoFundMe, "Holly Needs Us!", which was created last year for the pup, was revived; a total of $213 of its $2,000 goal has been raised so far.

"This girl has been so through so much. We need to try and get her healthy so she can live a long life once she is able to get out of the shelter and find her family. Please help. Your donations will save her life. She is only five years old. She deserves a chance," Stroup said.

She added, "Holly is just a good soul. She had obviously had it rough before she got to us . She just loves people and really just wants to be loved. She likes most dogs and does her best to please."

Her goal, Stroup said, is for Holly to be healthy and live a long life. "I just want her to find a family and live happily ever after. Like her daughter Tay Tay is now."
