Signs 'Paint The North Fork Red, White & Blue' To Honor Heroes

NORTH FORK, NY— Have you thanked a veteran or member of the military lately?

A new effort kicked off recently to show gratitude to the nation's greatest heroes: The "Thank You For Your Service" signs cost $20 and will benefit the Southold American Legion Griswold-Terry-Glover Post #803 Ladies Auxiliary.

"Let's paint the North Fork red, white and blue," organizers of the effort said.

The signs are available in four different formats, either saying, "Thank You For Your Service All Branches," "God Bless America"; "Proud Parents of a U.S. Serviceman"; and personalized. All five branches of the service are available.

Southold resident Patty Hocker said the idea was born because she was asked to create a sign for an Army serviceman who was coming home.

"I thought this was a great project, a way to partner with the Southold American Legion Post 803," she said. "We want to paint the town red, white, and blue while supporting Post 803 and our veterans and active duty military — and show our patriotism."
