'So Grateful': Dog Missing After Moving To New Home Found Safe
A caring community turned out in force to help bring Rosie home safely after her "big adventure."

CUTCHOGUE, NY —A dog that went missing Friday after moving with her owner to a new home in Cutchogue was found safe a short time later, thanks to the help of a caring community.
Cherryl Bradley posted on Facebook that she was searching for her beloved pet, a 12-year-old Jack Russell terrier mix that she fostered during the pandemic and then adopted. "Please keep a look-out for Rosie," she said. "I just moved into this area, and she found a way out of the yard."
Rosie went missing from behind Trimble's Nursery in Cutchogue.

A few hours later, Bradley wrote: "Rosie is home! She went on quite the adventure. Will follow up with details but first, a bath!"
Speaking with Patch about how Rosie was found, she said a resident of Elijah's Lane saw Rosie and tried to catch her, but she ran across Main Road to Locust Avenue. The staff at the League animal shelter also were out to help, and almost had her twice, but Rosie escaped.

Next, Rosie made her way to the Mattituck airport, where caring residents worked together to keep her from running again; a man named Ben cornered her, Bradley said.
Rosie, Bradley said, was looking a bit worse for wear — she was covered in ticks and had rolled in poop, she laughed.

"She was so happy to see me, and couldn't wait to get in the house!" she said.
Her other dog Roxy was also thrilled to see Rosie, Bradley said.
The first thing Bradley did was bring the pup straight a bath; Rosie was also "crazy thirsty after her big adventure," she said.
Bradley got a sea of texts from people during the time Rosie was missing, all trying to help.
"How awesome is this community?" she said. "I'm so grateful she is home safe!"
