Southold Fire Department Collecting Food, Clothing For Needy

The community is opening hearts to help those in need with donations at the Southold Firehouse on Main Road. Donate items through Sunday.

SOUTHOLD, NY — The Southold Fire Department is joining hands and hearts to collect food and clothing for individuals in need.

There are many struggling on the North Fork, the Southold Fire Department said, and donations will help with basic food essentials and with clothing to keep those facing difficult times warm.

The drive takes place through Sunday. Items needed include canned food, coffee, cereal, flour, granola bars, rice, microwaveable foods and soups, oatmeal, sugar, pancake mix, spaghetti, sauce, and ultra-pasteurized milk.

Also needed are diapers (all sizes), baby wipes, paper towels, toilet paper, disposable razors, shaving cream, soap, shampoo, and toothpaste.

Suggested clothing items include coats, sweatshirts, hats, and unused socks.

Items may be dropped off in the pickup truck outside the Southold Firehouse, located at 55135 Main Road, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Donations can also be dropped off to Fire Chief Peggy Killian at Eastern Tire, located at 15 Eugenes Road in Cutchogue.

"Thanking you in advance for your care, concern, and continued generosity toward our community," the fire department said.
