Southold Man Charged In Burglaries, Caught With Stolen Shotguns: Police

BREAKING: The man was charged with two burglaries reported on Main Road and was found to have two stolen shotguns, police said.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A Southold man was charged with two recent burglaries and found with stolen shotguns, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Colin Volinski, 28, was arrested on Monday at 3 a.m. and charged with two counts of third degree burglary, a felony, and three counts of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

Volinski was arrested in connection with two reported burglaries that occurred along Main Road in Southold over the past few weeks, police said.

With the assistance of the Suffolk County probation department, detectives recovered two stolen shotguns and a number of stolen tools from Volinki's Main Road, Southold residence, police said.

The guns had been reportedly removed from a barn during the overnight hours of April 9, police said. The tools were associated with a burglary that was reported on March 20, police said.

Police also seized a black powder muzzle loader which Volinkski was prohibited from possessing due to a prior criminal conviction, police said.

Volinski was held for arraignment in Southold Justice Court, police said.
