"In an effort to give students greater after-school and healthy activities an orienteering team was formed last year," McAllister said.
Orienteering is a competitive sport that involves using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain; it combines the skills of cross-country running, navigation and the ability to think under pressure while promoting teamwork and confidence, he said.

"Due to the cadet’s hard work and dedication," McAllisster said, the team was invited to compete at the NJROTC National Orienteering Meet, which is slated to be held on March 16 to March 18, 2024, in North Carolina. In order to attend, the team must raise approximately $12,000, McAllister said.
"Any assistance in helping the cadets attend a once in a lifetime event would be greatly appreciated," he said.
