SOUTHOLD, NY — The voters have spoken: The Southold Union Free District' Board of Education proposed 2023 to 2024 budget of$33,168,000, which reflects a 2.99 percent increase, passed by an overwhelming majority of 449 to 87.

A proposition on the agenda to expend capital reserve funds, not in excess of $3,478,900, for new boilers, also passed by a wide margin of 492 to 41.

Six candidates vied for three open BOE seats: Winners were incumbents Scott Latham with 357 votes and Brian Tobin, with 260 votes, and challenger Thomas Grattan Jr., with 275 votes.
