Southold's Annual Unity Picnic Celebrates Diversity, Inclusion
The annual picnic takes place Saturday and is free.

PECONIC, NY — A popular annual event that celebrates diversity, inclusion, and togetherness is set to unfold, as the Southold Anti-Bias Task Force's Annual Unity Picnic promises a day of good food, fun, and a shared vision of understanding and acceptance.
The free event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 13 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Peconic Community Center, located at 1170 Peconic Lane.
Food will be served from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages will be provided. The day will also include live music, entertainment, games for children, and prizes.

"The Unity Picnic is one of my favorite events each year," said Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell has told Patch. "It epitomizes the work of Southold Anti-Bias Task Force — bringing people together and fostering dialogue, not conflict."
"Let’s get together and celebrate our diversity," said Southold Anti-Bias Task Force co-chairs Sonia Spar and Valerie Shelby. "Donations from local businesses for the free raffle are appreciated."
